Therapy
People come to therapy for a variety of reasons. Some people know what those reasons are, others simply know that something is amiss. Often life has gotten too complicated or too painful. Decisions
need to be made, paths need to be chosen, and there does not seem to be a way to proceed.
Therapy is about having a safe place where the unspoken can be heard, the inexplicable defined, and the uncertain explored. Judgment is put aside, skills taught, and practice is encouraged.
I serve as an understanding and empathetic guide who provides honesty, integrity, and common sense.
As a licensed psychologist, the tools I bring to therapy include the following:
Cognitive Behavior Therapy |
Focuses on the ‘here and now’, and how our thoughts influence our behaviors.
|
Psychoanalysis
|
Focuses on how past emotional experiences and how they influence our perception of current situations. |
Dream Analysis |
Focuses on revealing how our dreams reflect out attitudes and behavior. |
Dialectical Behavior Therapy |
Focuses on skills to effectively manage emotions, enhance relationships, and build self esteem. |
EMDR |
Focuses on eliminating the effects trauma. |
Mindfulness | Focuses on reducing stress and anxiety. |
